We recently discovered this wonderful compilation of orchestrated Street Fighter 2 themes. We’re often asked to create orchestral scores with that classic video game music feel, and this arrangement is a perfect example of the kind of sound we aim for.

The music would fit beautifully in an adventure RPG or Japanese RPG, with its long, emotional melodies and rich string lines. Each theme carries strong, memorable motifs (short identifying phrases that give every character an epic musical identity). Because Street Fighter brings together fighters from around the world and different cultures, the score gains a rich variety of melodic ideas and textural colors.

Instruments like electric violin and piano, along with powerful brass sections, are used with great effect, adding a distinctive quality that helps the music stand out.

The original Street Fighter music was composed by Yoko Shimomura, Isao Abe, and Syun Nishigaki. This fan-made orchestral tribute was created by Nintevana.
